1 The Istana grounds will be open to the public on Thursday, 10 February 2005 to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Opening hours are from 8.30am to 6.30pm.
Admission Details
2 Admission to the Istana grounds is free for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents. Others, including foreign visitors, will be required to pay an entrance fee of $1 per person. Entrance to the grounds is via the main gate at Orchard Road. As there is little shelter in the grounds, visitors are advised to be prepared in case of rain.
3 For an entrance fee of $2, members of the public will also be allowed to view the State rooms in the Istana Building.
Highlights
4 Visitors to the Istana Building can view a display of selected gifts presented to the President and the Prime Minister by foreign dignitaries.
5 The Merlion Pipe Band from the Tampines Central Community Club as well as the bands from the following schools will be performing during the Open House:
- Shuqun Primary School
- Swiss Cottage Secondary School
- Temasek Secondary School
Contribution to Charity
6 Istana souvenirs will be available for sale during the Open House. The proceeds of all sales, as well as all entrance fees collected, will go to the Community Chest.
