Appointment of Chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers

Mr Sim Kee Boon, Chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers (CPA) has expressed his wish to retire as Chairman of the Council when his current term as Chairman ends on 1 September 2005.  He will however continue to serve as a member until the expiry of his term on 5 January 2007.  Mr Sim has chaired the Council since January 2004.  The President would like to put on record his appreciation to Mr Sim for his valuable service as Chairman of the Council and looks forward to his continued contribution as a member of the Council.

The President is pleased to appoint Mr J Y Pillay, Chairman of the Singapore Exchange Limited, as the new Chairman of the Council of Presidential Advisers with effect from 2 September 2005.

The other members of the Council are Dr Cheong Siew Keong, Pro-Chancellor of NUS, Mr Ridzwan Dzafir, Ambassador-at-Large, Mr S Dhanabalan, Chairman of DBS Bank and Professor Cham Tao Soon, University Distinguished Professor at NTU.
