1 The Istana grounds will be open to the public on Monday, 2 May 2005 to celebrate Labour Day. In conjunction with this Open House, President Nathan will be launching President’s Challenge 2005.
Showtime!
2 ShowTime! – the theme of the launch – will feature some of Singapore’s best local talents in a special showcase put up by Music For Good Society. Singapore Idol Taufik Batisah, runner-up Sylvester Sim and PC beneficiaries will take to the stage to celebrate the 6th President’s Challenge. The launch will also be supported by 350 volunteers as well as 100 St Gabriel’s Primary School pupils.

- Band performances
Bands from the following schools will be performing in the afternoon:
- Nanyang Girls’ High School
- Pasir Ris Secondary School
- St Andrew’s Junior College
- Temasek Primary School
- President’s Challenge Heart Bus
For the fourth year, SBS Transit will also be having a public sale of hearts during this Open House. For a donation of $10, the public can join the President and Mrs Nathan in penning their signatures on heart stickers which would then be put on specially decorated SBS Transit double deck buses which will ply throughout the island.
- Tour of Building and Display of Gifts
For an entrance fee of $2, visitors to the Istana Building can view the staterooms as well as enjoy a display of selected gifts presented to the President and the Prime Minister by foreign dignitaries. Sale of tickets to tour the staterooms closes at 5.30pm. Admission Details
4 Admission hours for the Open House will be from 8.30am to 6.00pm. Entry to the Istana grounds is free for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents, and $1 for others.
Contribution to Charity
5 Istana souvenirs will be available for sale during the Open House. The proceeds of all sales, as well as all entrance fees collected, will be for charity, in support of President’s Challenge 2005.
