The Istana grounds will be open to the public on Monday, 1 May 2006 to celebrate Labour Day. Opening hours are from 8.30 am to 6.00 pm.
Admission to the Istana grounds is free for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents. Others, including foreign visitors, will be required to pay an entrance fee of $1 per person. Entrance to the grounds is via the main gate at Orchard Road. As there is little shelter in the Istana grounds, visitors are advised to be prepared in case of rain.
For an entrance fee of $2, members of the public will also be allowed to view the State rooms in the Istana Building. Sale of tickets for this internal tour will close at 5.45 pm.
Visitors to the Istana Building can view a display of selected gifts presented to the President and the Prime Minister by foreign dignitaries.
The following schools will be performing during the Open House:
- Anderson Junior College Band
- Princess Elizabeth Primary School Band
- Juying Secondary School Band
- River Valley Secondary School's Chinese Dance
- Deyi Secondary School's Indian Cultural Dance
Istana souvenirs will be available for sale during the Open House. The proceeds of all sales, as well as all entrance fees collected, will go to the Community Chest.
