PRESIDENT’S OFFICE MEDIA RELEASE
ISTANA OPEN HOUSE ON SATURDAY, 13 OCTOBER 2007, FOR HARI RAYA PUASA

     The Istana grounds will be open to the public on Saturday, 13 October 2007 to celebrate Hari Raya Puasa.  Opening hours are from 8.30am to 6.00pm


Admission Details

2     Admission to the Istana grounds is free for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents.  Others, including foreign visitors, will be required to pay an entrance fee of $1 per person.  Entrance to the grounds is via the main gate at Orchard Road.  As there is little shelter in the Istana grounds and given the recent wet weather, visitors are advised to be prepared in case of rain.


3     For an entrance fee of $2, members of the public will also be allowed to view the State rooms in the Istana Building.  Sale of tickets for this internal tour will close at 5.30pm (subject to crowd situation).


Highlights

4     Visitors to the Istana Building can view a display of selected gifts presented to the President and the Prime Minister by foreign dignitaries.


5     The bands from the following schools will be performing during the Open House:

       *   Zhonghua Secondary School
       *   Wellington Primary School
       *   Bukit Timah Primary School


Contribution to Charity

6 Istana souvenirs will be available for sale during the Open House.  The proceeds of all sales, as well as all entrance fees collected, will go to the Community Chest.
