SAF Presidential Garden Reception 2014

President Tony Tan Keng Yam hosted the annual Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) Presidential Garden Reception for about 700 personnel from the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF) at the Istana on 13 July 2014. The event recognises the commitment of MINDEF personnel and SAF servicemen and their valuable contributions towards the defence of Singapore. In this photo, President, with Chief of Defence Force, LG Ng Chee Meng (centre), speak with six personnel who have contributed outstanding service to the SAF.

IRIR Nite 2014

President Tony Tan Keng Yam was the Guest-of-Honour at the 11th Inter-Racial Inter-Religious Harmony Nite (IRIR) held at the Marina Bay Sands Ballroom on 12 July. The IRIR promotes community bonding and solidarity among various segments of multi-cultural Singapore.

3rd Festival of Biodiversity

President Tony Tan Keng Yam was the Guest-of-Honour at the 3rd Festival of Biodiversity held in Vivocity on 12 July 2014. The annual event is a national effort to communicate the importance of biodiversity and its conservation to Singaporeans and residents of Singapore. In this photo, President launches the festival with Mr Desmond Lee (left), Minister of State (MOS) for the Minister of National Development, and Mr Kenneth Er (right), Chief Executive Office of National Parks Board (NParks).

Opening of RRG Resource Centre

President Tony Tan Keng Yam officiated at the Opening of the Religious Rehabilitation Group (RRG) Resource and Counselling Centre (RCC) and Annual Iftar at the Khadijah Mosque on 11 July 2014. The RCC is an important addition to Singapore’s overall efforts to counter radical and extremist ideology efforts and will further strengthen RRG as an authority, as well as promote greater awareness and assurance in the public that a concerted effort in counter-ideology is currently being undertaken to prevent Singaporeans from falling prey to violent extremism.
