Istana Open House

Every year, the Istana Grounds is open to the public five days a year during Chinese New Year, Labour Day, Hari Raya Puasa, National Day and Deepavali.

Entrance Fees

Admission to the Istana grounds is free for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents. Other visitors are required to pay an entrance fee of S$2 per person. Entrance to the grounds is via the main gate situated along Orchard Road. Opening hours are usually from 8.30am to 6.00pm.

 

Highlights

 

 

 

Visitors can look forward to a variety of performances on the grounds during the Open House while touring the grounds or having picnics with friends and family. 

 

 

 

Visitors can tour selected function rooms in the Istana Main Building and view a special display of gifts presented to Singapore’s Presidents and the Prime Ministers over the years. There are also guided tours of the Istana building, conducted by the Preservation of Sites and Monuments (PSM) volunteers.

 

For nature lovers, visitors can participate in the Nature Guided Walks where they can learn more about the rich flora and fauna available in the Istana grounds.

 

Fees for Entrance into the Istana Main Building                            

The following fees are applicable for the tours of the State Room, Banquet Hall and Reception Room in the Istana main building:

* Guided tours are conducted by volunteers and are limited to 15 persons per group, and depart every half hour from 9.00am to 3.00pm. All proceeds collected will be donated to charity. For more information, visit the National Heritage Board website.

* Guided tours are conducted by volunteers. Group size of the tours are kept to 12 to 15 persons per group, and depart every hour from 10.00am to 4.00pm. All proceeds collected will be donated to charity. For more information, visit the National Parks website.

 

Souvenirs

Istana souvenirs, including the PC memorabilia, are sold at the Open House. All proceeds from the sale of the souvenirs are donated to charity.

 

Notes to Visitors

The following items will not be allowed within the Istana grounds for security reasons:

  1. Pointed and sharp objects (e.g. knives of any size, forks)
  2. Flammable items (e.g. lighters)
  3. Canned food and drinks

To ensure a safe and enjoyable visit for all visitors, and to prevent damage to the premises, the following will not be allowed within the Istana grounds:

  1. Activities such as wheeled sports (e.g. cycling, roller blading), littering, smoking, consumption of alcoholic drinks are not allowed.
  2. Pets, except for guide dogs, are not allowed.
  3. No storage facilities will be provided. Security personnel reserve the right to turn away visitors who bring along items that are not allowed.
  4. All visitors will need to go through security screening prior to entering the Istana grounds.
  5. The sale of tickets to enter the Istana Main Building will close at 5.30pm, subject to crowd conditions.  Registration for the Istana Main Building Guided Tour and the Nature Guided Walk will close by 3 pm and 4 pm respectively subject to availability.
