The Istana grounds will be opened to the public on Saturday, 1 February 2014, from 8.30am to 6.00pm, in celebration of Chinese New Year.
Visitors can enjoy performances such as Dragon Dance, Wushu, Qiao Hua Dan (俏花旦) dance, acrobatics and other items put up by volunteers. The Singapore Zoo will also showcase Ploughshare Tortoises together with some species of snakes. For more information on the day’s programmes, please refer to Annex A below.
A new Nature Guided Walk at the Istana - a collaboration between the President’s Office and the National Parks Board (NParks) to showcase the Istana’s flora, fauna and biodiversity – will be launched at the open house. The walks will be led by NParks volunteers.
Members of the public can also tour selected function rooms in the Istana main building to view a display of gifts presented to the President and the Prime Minister by foreign dignitaries. Guided tours of the Istana main building will be conducted by the Preservation of Sites and Monuments (PSM) volunteers.
Admission Details
Entry to the Istana grounds is free for Singaporeans and Singapore permanent residents. All others visitors are required to pay an entrance fee of $1 per person. Entry to the Istana grounds is via the main gate at Orchard Road. The nearest MRT station is Dhoby Ghaut.
Additional fees as specified in Annexes B and C will be applied for the guided tours. Istana souvenirs will also be on sale during the Open House.
Proceeds from the sale of souvenirs and all entrance fees collected will be donated to charity.
