The Istana grounds will be open to the public on Wednesday, 1 May 2013, from 8.30am to 6.00pm, in celebration of Labour Day.
The Singapore Symphony Orchestra will be performing for the first time at the Istana Open House, under the baton of Mr Joshua Tan, the SSO’s newly appointed Associate Conductor. For more information, visit the SSO website.
Performances will also be put up by Rosyth and Bukit Timah Primary School bands, and volunteer groups from PA Talents, NTUC Club and the Volunteer Guitar Connection.
The Jurong Bird Park will exhibit selected birds and Cosmoprof Academy volunteers will provide face painting at the Istana grounds throughout the day. For more information on the day’s programmes, please refer to Annex A below.
Members of the public can also tour selected function rooms in the Istana building to view a display of gifts presented to the President and the Prime Minister by foreign dignitaries. Guided tours of the Istana main building will be conducted by volunteers from the Preservation of Monuments Board.
Admission Details
Entry to the Istana grounds is free for Singaporeans and Singapore permanent residents. Others visitors are required to pay an entrance fee of $1 per person. Entrance to the Istana grounds is via the main gate at Orchard Road. The nearest MRT station is Dhoby Ghaut.
Additional fees as specified in Annex B for the tours of the Istana main building will be applied. Istana souvenirs will also be on sale during the Open House.
Proceeds from the sale of souvenirs and all entrance fees collected will be donated to charity.

* Guided tours are conducted by volunteers and are limited to 12 persons per group, and depart every half hour from 9.30am to 4.30pm, with a lunch break from 12.30pm to 1.30pm.
