New Chairman Appointed for the Presidential Council for Religious Harmony

Justice Chao Hick Tin, Senior Judge of the Supreme Court, will be appointed Chairman of the Presidential Council for Religious Harmony (PCRH), for three years with effect from 2 Jan 2019. Justice Chao succeeds Mr Eddie Teo, who will step down as Chairman PCRH on the same day.

Annex – Presidential Council for Religious Harmony
The Presidential Council for Religious Harmony was set up under the Maintenance of Religious Harmony Act. The Chairman and members are appointed by the President of the Republic of Singapore. The Council gives its advice to the Minister for Home Affairs on matters affecting the maintenance of religious harmony in Singapore which are referred to it by the Minister or by Parliament, and considers and makes recommendations to the President on restraining orders issued under the Act.
