Ladies and Gentlemen
I am delighted to join you this afternoon at the Relay Majulah Appreciation Party. I met many of you at last Sunday’s President's Star Charity TV show where Relay Majulah finally ended after nine months of hard work by 200 runners, the organising committee, friends and families who supported the cause, as well as the many volunteers who helped in its organisation.
Thank you for raising fund for the President's Challenge. I am very grateful to see support from donors (both corporates and individuals), corporate sponsors (such as 100Plus and Successpedia), public agencies (LTA, Sports SG), and the many unsung heroes behind the scenes, such as your family members.
What I want to say is that Relay Majulah brings out the essence of President's Challenge – the coming together of people from all walks of life and abilities – to empower lives and to build a nation that truly cares. You would be happy to know that the President’s Challenge supports almost 70 charities each year. For a ground-up initiative to have garnered over $1.6 million and from what I understand, is still counting, is an amazing feat. Today's appreciation event is to celebrate all of you - what all of you stand for, what all of you believe in and for the change you have made in the lives of our people, and for our nation. On behalf of our beneficiaries under the President’s Challenge, I want to thank everyone for your contributions. Thank you.
