Working Visits by President Tharman to Malaysia and Switzerland, August 2025

WORKING VISITS BY PRESIDENT THARMAN SHANMUGARATNAM TO IPOH, PERAK, MALAYSIA 25 TO 26 AUGUST 2025,
AND GENEVA, SWITZERLAND 18 TO 21 AUGUST 2025
President Tharman Shanmugaratnam will make a working visit to Ipoh, Perak, Malaysia, from 25 to 26 August 2025 in connection with the 54th Universiti Malaya–NUS Inter-University Tunku Chancellor Golf Tournament (UM-NUS Golf Tournament). His visit, hosted by UM Chancellor and Sultan of the State of Perak, His Royal Highness Sultan Nazrin Muizzuddin Shah Ibni Almarhum Sultan Azlan Muhibbuddin Shah Al-Maghfur-Lah, will be in his capacity as Chancellor of the National University of Singapore (NUS).
During the visit, President Tharman will meet with Sultan of Perak Nazrin Shah at the Istana Iskandariah Kuala Kangsar. The Sultan and the Raja Permaisuri of Perak, Her Royal Highness Tuanku Zara Salim will also host President Tharman and Mrs Jane Ittogi Shanmugaratnam and the two university delegations to dinner at the Istana. The two Chancellors will also be engaged at a joint UM-NUS academic symposium on precision health.
President Tharman will also make a working visit to Geneva, Switzerland from 18 to 21 August 2025 to engage in the meetings of the World Economic Forum (WEF)’s Board of Trustees and International Business Council. He will also meet WTO Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and selected business leaders. President Tharman will also meet Overseas Singaporeans based in Switzerland at a National Day Reception.
