Bayanihan Sculpture

The late Benigno Aquino III, who was the former President of the Philippines, presented this gift to Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong during the 20^th APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in Vladivostok on September 8, 2012.

This gift is made of cast aluminium in nickel plate with a black granite stone base. It portrays a group of men carrying a traditional home with thatched roof on their shoulders, symbolising bayanihan – a foundational Filipino cultural tradition representing communal unity and teamwork without expecting rewards.
