Russia’s then-President Dmitry Medvedev presented this gift to the late President S.R. Nathan during his State Visit to Singapore from November 15 to 16, 2009. This was also the first-ever State Visit by a Russian President.

This gift is a gold cup atop a gem−studded stem and supported upon a domed marble base. Decorated with swans, fleur−de−lis and other floral motifs, the cup is also further embellished with stylised wing motif pierced work on the lip of the cup and additional gems. The swan is a well−loved symbol in Russian culture and early myths.
