Midlah & Fanageen Coffee Set

Oman’s Sultan Haitham Bin Tarik presented this gift to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam during his State Visit to Singapore from December 13 to 15, 2023.

This gift, known as the Midlah and Fanageen coffee set, is crafted in gold and decorated with intricate hand-engraved motifs inspired by the Omani environment. The Midlah is a traditional insulated pot used to keep Omani beverage warm and is regarded as an emblem of Omani hospitality. 

The accompanying cups, known as finjan (plural: fanajeen), are small handleless vessels traditionally used for serving Omani beverage to guests.
