Royal Delft Blue Tulip Plate

Netherlands’ President of the Senate Anneke Broekers-Knol and Speaker of the House of Representatives Khadija Arib presented this gift to then-President Halimah Yacob during her State Visit to the Netherlands from November 20 to 24, 2018.

This gift is a moulded ceramic plate. It is first coated with a liquid clay slip, known as engobe, before firing. It is then hand-painted with delicate tulip motifs in the trademark Delft blue. This technique has endured since the 17th century.
