Germany’s President Frank-Walter Steinmeier presented this gift to then-President Halimah Yacob during her State Visit to Germany from December 9 to 13, 2019.

Dimensions: 45 × 9 × 24 cm
This gift is a golden sculpture of a Schreitende Lowin, or striding lioness – a replica of an early work by the late German sculptor, Gerhard Marcks.
Marcks was a prominent 20th-century artist associated with the Bauhaus movement in its early years. The design dates to 1909, with authorised editions produced in limited, numbered copies, including versions in porcelain with gold glaze as well as metal finishes.
