Silver Ankh Sculpture

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi presented this gift to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam during his State Visit to Egypt from September 19 to 23, 2025.

This gift is an Egyptian ankh, which is an ancient hieroglyphic symbol for “life” that represents eternal life, immortality, and divine power. It is often depicted in the hands of pharaohs and gods, who are shown giving or taking life, and was worn as an amulet for protection and good fortune. Its loop-topped cross shape is also associated with life-giving elements like water, air, and the sun.
