Silver Cigarette Box

The late Omar Ali Saifuddien III, who was the former Sultan of Brunei, presented this gift to the late Yang di-Pertuan Negara Encik Yusof during his State Visit to Brunei in November 1960.

This gift is a silver cigarette box. It features intricate floral and arabesque repoussé patterns made by Brunei craftsmen. Repoussé is a metalworking technique used to create three-dimensional relief patterns by hammering the metal from the reverse side.
