Silver Tea Set

The late Tun Abdul Razak Bin Hussein Al-Haj, who was the second Prime Minister of Malaysia, presented this gift to the late Dr Benjamin Henry Sheares on his Official Visit to Singapore in November 1973. This was also the first Official Visit by a Malaysian Prime Minister, after our Republic’s independence in August 1965.

This silver tea service with tray was crafted in Kelantan, a state renowned for its fine silverwork. The repoussé design depicts the Coat of Arms of Malaysia, surrounded along the rim by the emblems of the 13 States of the Federation.
The 13 states (shown clockwise from the national coat of arms) are: Perak, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Kedah, Perlis, Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang, Johore, Melaka (Malacca), Negeri Sembilan and Penang.
