This traditional container set organises the ingredients for preparing betel quids. The offering of betel quids has long been an important gesture of hospitality across Southeast Asia, marking the formal opening of ceremonies, weddings, and diplomatic exchanges.
The containers typically hold ingredients such as gambier, areca nut, and cloves, with the smallest container reserved for slaked lime. This set also includes a gobek (mortar) and alu (pestle), used to pound the areca nut and other ingredients for those who prefer a softer chew.
