In view of the latest COVID-19 Multi-Ministry Taskforce’s guidance to reduce the level of social interactions in the community, the Istana Open House (IOH) on Thursday, 13 May 2021 will be cancelled.
Those who had successfully obtained their tickets for this IOH will be able to gain admission to the next IOH using their existing tickets.
With the COVID-19 situation stabilising in the preceding months, we had previously planned to reopen the Istana to the public in stages, starting with this IOH in May. However, since we announced the restarting of this IOH, there has unfortunately been an increase in the number of local COVID-19 cases. We have therefore decided to err on the side of caution and cancel the IOH. We apologise for any inconveniences caused.
The Istana looks forward to welcoming visitors again once the COVID-19 situation has improved.

The President is responsible for safeguarding the national reserves and the integrity of the public service. The President also receives foreign dignitaries, officiates at state functions and performs other ceremonial and community duties.
Besides official functions, the President actively supports community and social causes. The President often graces events organised by grassroots, community and welfare groups, as well as ethnic and religious organisations.
The portraits of President Halimah and her spouse, Mr Mohamed Abdullah Alhabshee, are displayed in public buildings. The Presidential Standard is flown at the Istana in the day, when the President is in the country. The Presidential Crest is used on state crockery, gifts and stationery related to the President.
