  1. Is the Istana open to the public?

    The Istana is typically open five times a year during the Istana Open Houses. Dates of Istana Open Houses can be found at here.

  2. Do I need to register before coming for the Istana Open House?

    No, all visitors are welcome to visit the Istana Grounds during open houses from 8.30am to 6.00pm. Entrance to the grounds is via the main gate at Orchard Road.

  3. Must I pay to enter the Istana?

    Admission to the Istana grounds is free for Singaporeans and Singapore Permanent Residents. Other visitors are required to pay an entrance fee of $2 per person.

  4. Can we drive into the Istana?

    Entrance to the Istana on open house days are only by foot, via the main entrance along Orchard Road.

  5. Does the President live in the Istana?

    The Istana is the office of the President. It is used for hosting foreign dignitaries and guests at events and functions. It is also the working office of the Prime Minister of Singapore.

  6. Can I purchase Istana souvenirs?

    Visitors to the Istana can get President’s Challenge Memorabilia consisting of keychains, luggage tags, bookmarks, and magnets by making a donation to the President’s Challenge. The President's Challenge Memorabilia are available at Istana Open Houses and at the Istana Heritage Gallery.
